We are thrilled to announce an electrifying collaboration between Hope and Health and Bears’ Lair for the 2025 Hope and Health Jersey Contest - inviting Indigenous Youth artists to submit original artwork for the opportunity to shape the future of our community with your art - and an epic prize pack to elevate your creative and business journey.

As a proud member of the Shíshálh Nation (Sechelt), Geena Jackson’s journey has been about resilience, innovation, and uplifting Indigenous communities. Her path weaves traditional wisdom with modern opportunities, driven by a commitment to creating space for Indigenous voices in every room.
Most recently, Geena has empowered hundreds of Indigenous entrepreneurs and over 1,500 Indigenous youth through economic development initiatives, with the creation of Bears’ Lair TV on APTN and Bears’ Lair Youth Dream Camps, which equip Indigenous youth with entrepreneurial skills and life tools across Canada.

Maynard Johnny Jr. is a prominent and talented Coast Salish Artist that has graciously designed many Hope and Health jerseys and logos, such as Generations 1 and 2 logos, “Be The Change” Orange Shirt Design, Anti-Bullying Pink Shirt Design, Nautsa’mawt FC crest, jersey collections and the Hope and Health mascot, “Raven”. He is also the recipient of the Fulmer Award in First Nations Art from BC Achievement.
Through this internship, you will learn how to become an artist for a living and gain value experience experience and insightful teachings. Maynard Johnny Jr. will work closely with you in mentorship share his path to a successful creative business.
Contest Details
Deadline to apply is April 1st, 2025.
Applicants must be 20 years of age or under at the time of submission.
Applicants identify as Indigenous and live in the province of British Columbia.
Contest winner to be decided by Hope and Health Champions Academy network, Matriarchs Advisory Circle and Bears' Lair representatives - by vote.
Must be an original design created solely by the entrant.
One submission per artist.
